Pit Lake

International Pit Lakes Database

MLC have been developing an international pit lake database since 2004. The Database has provided data and evidence-basis for numerous global pit lake proposal and development, closure and repurposing projects. There are currently over 700 pit lakes in the Database, from all continents bar Antarctica. These pit lakes are sourced from 268 cited literature references which are regularly updated; both from MLC and associated authors’ publications, as well as other authors in the international mine water research and mining industry communities.
